Room to breathe.

The Crown’s beer garden is genuinely one of the best in Old Oxted. It’s large, safe and enclosed — the kind of space where parents can relax with a pint while the children exhaust themselves. Facing south, it catches the afternoon sun and has sweeping views out over the North Downs.

  • A stop on the North Downs Way walking route
  • Picnic benches and covered seating areas

Adventure playground

A kingdom of their own.

The playground is genuinely impressive for a pub garden — not a token slide, but a full set of interconnected equipment that keeps children busy for hours. Parents get their pint; children get their adventure.

Dog friendly pub in Old Oxted

Four legs welcome.

Dogs are very welcome at The Crown — in the beer garden on a lead, and in the cosy lower bar. We are a well-known stop on the North Downs Way, and a favourite with walkers and their four-legged companions who have been earning that pint since Oxted. The landlord has been known to produce a free bone from behind the bar.

A fantastic garden play area for children, they loved it and didn't want to leave. A wooden bus, pirate boat, wobbly bridges, two slides and a basket swing. It feels like a family run pub which is even better.

Stopped here after a walk along the North Downs Way. Great pint of local ale — refreshing and well kept. The beer garden is also huge and has a play area for small children. Great place to bring kids.
